SKT Wins Two Categories Including 'Best Telecom Operator' at Global Telecom Awards

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] SK Telecom announced on the 8th that it won two awards, 'Best Telecom Operator' and 'Industry IoT Leader of the Year,' at the Global Telecom Awards held untact (non-face-to-face) in London, UK.

The Global Telecom Awards, hosted by the global ICT research institute 'Informa,' selected companies that achieved innovative results over the year in 20 categories including telecommunications services and infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), security, and cloud.

SK Telecom won for three consecutive years, following a triple crown in 2018 for Media Service Innovation Award, and in 2019 for 5G commercialization, Best Telecom Operator, and Business & Operations Support Transformation categories.

The Best Telecom Operator award was given in recognition of the '5G Hyper-Connectivity' technology, which includes 5G-LTE convergence technology, multi-antenna transmission technology, and ultra-high-speed communication using SA and 28 GHz.

The 5G B2B IoT devices and applications won the Industry IoT Leader of the Year category. SK Telecom developed 5G IoT devices dedicated to B2B business that can be utilized in various industrial fields such as smart factories, smart cities, intelligent transportation systems, and security surveillance, and commercialized them by installing them in multifunctional robots for smart factories.

With this award, SK Telecom has won 12 crowns in global telecommunications-related awards this year. Starting with three crowns at the GSMA Global Mobile Awards in February, it has consecutively won the Small Cell Awards, Leading Lights Awards, 5G World Awards, Network Transformation Awards, CommunicAsia Awards, and World Communication Awards. At the Broadband World Forum, the world's largest wired telecommunications exhibition, SK Broadband jointly received the Best Service Award.
