A Fire-Safe Winter: "Gyeongnam Fire Department Will Stand With Residents"

View original image[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] The Gyeongsangnam-do Fire Headquarters announced on the 7th that it will implement various fire safety measures that residents can feel during the winter season, when fires frequently occur (4 months, 2020.11.1.~2021.2.28.).
Considering seasonal characteristics, recent social issues, and big data analysis results, the policy aims to create a safe Gyeongnam from fires during the winter period with measures that residents can empathize with.
The fire status during the winter season shows that an average of 675 fires occurred during the winter months (December to February) over the past five years. Winter has the highest daily average fires (year-round 36.17 cases / winter 37.48 cases) and fatalities (year-round 0.34 persons / winter 0.67 persons), requiring strengthened fire prevention.
The causes are ranked as fires due to carelessness (55.5%), electrical causes (17.6%), and unknown causes (11.9%).
Regarding fire locations, outdoor areas are the highest (29.8%), followed by residential (21.4%), automobiles (9.37%), and factories (6.33%).
This winter’s fire safety measures include five strategies and 23 key tasks tailored to regional conditions, such as ▲strengthening autonomous safety management functions for vulnerable facilities ▲establishing a fire safety foundation in daily life ▲protecting citizens' lives through enhanced on-site response capabilities ▲fire safety measures related to COVID-19 response.
