Growing Anticipation for MiniLED TVs... Samsung and LG Also Preparing
[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] As competition in the TV market intensifies, there is a growing expectation that the Mini LED (Light Emitting Diode) TV market could become a new battleground next year.
According to industry sources on the 7th, many TV manufacturers including Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics plan to launch Mini LED TVs next year.
Mini LED TVs are TVs that densely embed small LEDs around the backlight. They are based on LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) technology but offer better quality in terms of color and brightness compared to conventional LCD TVs.
Compared to high-end products like OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) TVs or QLED (Quantum Dot) TVs, they are also more affordable, making them highly cost-effective products.
Han Jong-hee, President of Samsung Electronics’ Visual Display Business, recently said about Mini LED TVs, "We will definitely launch them next year," adding, "We plan to sell a lot."
LG Electronics is also reportedly preparing to launch Mini LED TVs. LG Electronics unveiled a Mini LED TV at CES2020, a consumer electronics show held in the United States earlier this year.
