Yuseongsoo, Jeonnam Provincial Council Member, Urges Cooperation System for Island Areas and Public Libraries
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 6th that Assemblyman Yu Seong-su (Democratic Party, Jangseong 1) urged public libraries to strengthen their cooperative systems to support school libraries in remote island areas and libraries under regional education offices during an administrative audit of institutions directly under the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education on the 5th.
Public libraries affiliated with the Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education have established a cooperative system with branch libraries in Mokpo, Naju, and Jangseong regions, supporting training for school library staff and providing visiting reading programs directly to schools, among other collaborative efforts.
Assemblyman Yu Seong-su stated, “After visiting libraries in 22 cities and counties of Jeonnam, I found many libraries in poor conditions, with low accessibility and often no librarians,” adding, “The role of public libraries is important, and if there are necessary policies, opinions should be actively expressed.”
