Chungnam Provides 1 Million KRW 'Living Support Fund' Per Local Artist
[Asia Economy (Hongseong) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Chungnam Province will provide a living support fund of 1 million won per person to local artists.
On the 4th, the province announced the "Plan to Provide Living Support Funds for Artists" at a press briefing chaired by Lee Woo-sung, Deputy Governor for Culture and Sports.
The living support fund is intended to assist local artists who are experiencing financial difficulties due to the suspension of various performances and artistic activities caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The support targets 1,168 local artists who have completed registration of proof of artistic activity with the Korea Artists Welfare Foundation.
Additionally, the province plans to allow those currently in the process of registering proof (applying) to also apply for the support fund.
However, artists employed at national or public cultural and artistic institutions and those who have received the second government employment stability support fund are excluded from eligibility.
Applications can be submitted by directly visiting the arts-related department at the city or county office with jurisdiction over the applicant's address, or by mail or fax, with the required documents, until 6 p.m. on the 20th of this month.
The support funds will be distributed in early next month after review by the responsible departments of each city and county.
