Ministry of Foreign Affairs Participates in the 15th Jeju Forum... Hosts Sessions on Cybersecurity and Green New Deal
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 4th that it will participate as a sponsoring organization in the 15th Jeju Forum for Peace and Prosperity (hereinafter Jeju Forum), held in Jeju Island from the 5th to the 7th.
Lee Tae-ho, the 2nd Vice Minister, will attend the 'Diplomat Roundtable' on the 6th to deliver a keynote speech on △South Korea's COVID-19 response experience △the necessity of international solidarity and cooperation to overcome COVID-19, and at the 'Korea-Middle East Cooperation Forum,' he is scheduled to present △the vision for Korea-Middle East cooperation in the post-COVID era through a keynote speech.
At the Diplomat Roundtable, ambassadors to Korea will be invited as panelists to discuss 'Pandemic Response and Lessons Learned.' Attendees include James Choi, Ambassador of Australia to Korea, Federico Failla, Ambassador of Italy to Korea, Eric Teo, Ambassador of Singapore to Korea, and Philippe Lefort, Ambassador of France to Korea.
Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host sessions on major diplomatic issues such as △cybersecurity △green new deal △COVID-19 △regional cooperation (Korea-Middle East, Korea-ASEAN). Each session is expected to feature exchanges of opinions among Ministry officials, domestic and international scholars, and private experts on the respective topics.
Since its launch in 2001, the Jeju Forum, now in its 15th year, has contributed as a platform for regional multilateral cooperation discussions aimed at peace and shared prosperity in East Asia.

This year’s forum will be held in a hybrid format (online and offline) considering the COVID-19 situation, with participation from former and current high-level figures and scholars such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, UN Secretary-General Ant?nio Guterres, and former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, engaging in diverse discussions on the theme 'New Initiatives for Multilateral Cooperation: Pandemic and Human Security.'
