Opening of Guro-gu Hangdong Sports Center... Bowling and Badminton Courts Established
Constructed with a total floor area of 2,884㎡, featuring 2 basement and 2 above-ground floors... Equipped with a bowling alley, multipurpose stadium, and more
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) has opened the Hang-dong Community Sports Center (24 Hangdong-ro).
Guro-gu announced, "To promote residents' health and support wholesome leisure activities, we established the Hang-dong Community Sports Center and began operations on the 21st of this month."
The Hang-dong Community Sports Center was built with a total floor area of 2,884㎡, consisting of two basement levels and two above-ground floors. The first floor houses a bowling alley with 12 lanes, and the second floor features a multipurpose room where various sports such as badminton and basketball can be enjoyed. Facilities such as an underground parking lot, shower rooms, and personal lockers were also provided.
Guro-gu promoted the construction of the sports center to expand sports facilities in response to the population increase due to the large-scale residential complexes developed in Hang-dong and nearby Cheonwang-dong.
The sports center is located within the Hang-dong Public Housing District, where a large apartment complex of about 5,200 households has been developed.
The construction of the Hang-dong Community Sports Center, which began in December 2018, involved a total budget of approximately 11.2 billion KRW (national, city, and district funds). The construction was completed in June this year, but due to COVID-19, the center could not open until recently, when social distancing measures were eased to level 1, allowing operations to commence.
The available sports are bowling and badminton.
Operating hours are from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, with facility use suspended for 30 minutes every 2 hours for disinfection. The center is closed on Sundays.
Usage fees are 3,500 KRW per game for bowling and 2,000 KRW per 2 hours for badminton.
Reservations can be made in advance through the Guro Sports Club blog.
Guro-gu plans to adjust operations by extending usage hours and issuing monthly passes once the COVID-19 situation ends.
