Samsung Second Half 'GSAT' to be Held Online for Two Days Starting from the 31st
Conducted 4 times in total, divided into morning and afternoon
Interviews in November, successful candidates announced in December
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Samsung will conduct the written test for the second half new employee recruitment, the Job Aptitude Test (GSAT), online over two days from the 31st of this month to the 1st of next month.
According to industry sources on the 30th, Samsung recently sent test kits, including written test instructions and smartphone holders, to applicants who passed the first round of the job suitability evaluation among the recruitment applicants. Over the past weekend, preliminary gatherings by affiliates and divisions were all completed.
Similar to the first half of the year, Samsung plans to hold the test four times in total over two days, divided into morning and afternoon sessions, to prevent server overload and other issues. Only those who pass the written test will proceed to face-to-face interviews next month, and the final list of successful candidates will be announced in December.
Since the first half of this year, the company decided to conduct the written test online to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Additionally, to reduce the social costs associated with large-scale on-site testing, the test method will be transitioned to online going forward.
Samsung's recruitment scale this year is known to be at a similar level to previous years, numbering in the thousands. Last year, Samsung hired around 10,000 people including both the first and second halves of the year.
Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong announced as part of the mid-to-long-term investment and employment plan in 2018 that over three years until this year, a total investment of 180 trillion KRW and hiring of 40,000 personnel in four major new growth engine business sectors would be made. Including this year's recruitment numbers, it is expected that the planned workforce will be sufficiently secured.
