[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seul-gi] Yang Jin-ho, former chairman of Korea Future Technology, who was embroiled in controversy in 2018 for bizarre 'gapjil assault' and other incidents, reportedly registered his marriage while in prison after being detained.
A, the whistleblower who exposed Yang’s atrocities, stated in an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the 27th, "The person who registered the marriage held the position of manager at the company. They hardly worked at the company and lived with Chairman Yang, but after registering the marriage, they joined as vice president of the holding company. Later, they even took over as CEO of WeDisk and FileNori. Through this person, he is effectively continuing to operate from prison."
A said, "In November 2018, I was notified of suspension from my position and endured all kinds of harassment for a year. There was a term called 'untouchable caste.' I was that kind of existence. I endured for a year but was fired in January this year," adding, "Not only me, but all employees who cooperated with the investigation and gave statements unfavorable to former Chairman Yang were all fired."
He continued, "What victims and whistleblowers are worried about now is retaliation from former Chairman Yang. The perpetrators who participated in the group assault will all be released next month. We are anxious because we don’t know what Yang will make someone do."
The broadcast that day revealed videos of former Chairman Yang slapping employees and photos of a female employee being forced to tattoo his name on her leg.
A said, "Yang liked to record and keep photos or videos of these bizarre acts," adding, "He committed so many bizarre acts. There are really many photos that cannot be disclosed to the media," he claimed.
He went on, "After Yang was detained, all the suspicions reported in the media turned out to be true. During the investigation, previously undisclosed crimes such as special rape and marijuana smoking were confirmed and all were prosecuted," adding, "Other cases related to distribution of sexual crime videos and obscene materials, breach of trust and embezzlement, employee phone tapping, tax evasion, and methamphetamine use were all confirmed."
Meanwhile, former Chairman Yang was sentenced to seven years in prison in the first trial on June 1 and is currently appealing the verdict.
According to the Seongnam branch of Suwon District Court at the time, Yang’s lawyer submitted an appeal to the first criminal division, the presiding court, the day before.
Previously, Yang was detained and indicted on December 5, 2018, on charges including special rape, habitual assault, violation of the Narcotics Control Act (marijuana), violation of the Animal Protection Act, and violation of the Firearms and Explosives Control Act.
