Martial Arts, Seoul National University Engineering Consulting Center Holds Consultation and Seminar to Strengthen Export Companies' Innovation Capabilities
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] The Korea International Trade Association (KITA), in collaboration with the Seoul National University Engineering Consulting Center, announced that it held the ‘Export Companies (技UP), Technology Cooperation Consultation and Seminar for Strengthening Core Competencies’ on the 27th at COEX in Samseong-dong.
In response to the rapidly changing industrial ecosystem due to the recent spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), KITA organized this event with the Seoul National University Engineering Consulting Center to fundamentally improve the constitution of our export companies and enhance innovation capabilities such as improving product and service quality. Approximately 50 export company representatives and about 20 personnel including professors from the Engineering Consulting Center attended the consultation and seminar.
Among the 80 small and medium-sized export companies that applied in advance, 32 companies were finally selected after reviewing industry, product, and technology cooperation potential to participate in the one-on-one consultations with the Engineering Consulting Center. Professors from various fields within the Engineering Consulting Center, including process and material technology, new business and investment analysis, demand forecasting and data analysis, and logistics system design and operation, diagnosed problems and provided solutions. Through the consultations, companies plan to pursue product and service innovation and further discuss possibilities such as technology cooperation and technology transfer with the Engineering Consulting Center. KITA and the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund officials also supported consultations regarding export support and financial support systems and application procedures.
The seminar held in the afternoon discussed ways for our companies to enter the global market through technological innovation. Dr. Kim Sun-woo from the Science and Technology Policy Institute, who spoke as a presenter, emphasized, “Due to COVID-19, the existing global supply chain has been disrupted, and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, referred to as the ‘deepening of digital transformation,’ will accelerate gradually. In particular, the way companies acquire technology is shifting from strengthening internal research and development (R&D) capabilities to actively absorbing external ideas, and only through this can strong innovation be led.”
