According to Gangjin-gun on the 26th, the tournament, held on the 25th and the 1st of next month at Gangjin Baseball Park, is hosted by the Gangjin-gun Sports Council and organized by the Gangjin-gun Baseball and Softball Association. About 150 players from five teams in Gangjin showcased their honed skills and engaged in friendly competition.
With the social distancing level lowered to Level 1 amid the COVID-19 situation, the tournament was confirmed to be held. Centered around newly elected Gangjin-gun Baseball and Softball Association President Choi Jae-young in 2020, the event became a festival for club members and their families.
On the 25th, the preliminary round was held, with four teams (Gangjin Giants, Cheonhamujeok, Gangjin Haeoreum, Gangjin Maek) advancing to the semifinals, which will be held along with the finals on the 1st of next month.
Lee Sang-sim, Deputy Governor of Gangjin, who visited the stadium to encourage the participating players, said, “Gangjin-gun is a clean area with no confirmed COVID-19 cases. I thank the residents for strictly following the quarantine rules and hope that we thoroughly prepare in advance to protect this clean area and successfully complete the remaining tournament.”
The tournament is being held with strict adherence to quarantine rules, including temperature checks and mask-wearing for all participants.
