[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Jung Young-chae, CEO of NH Investment & Securities, tested negative for COVID-19 on the 23rd. The National Assembly inspection that Jung attended that morning was suspended until the test results were confirmed and resumed after the negative result was announced.
According to the company, Jung was notified in the afternoon that he had been in contact with a confirmed COVID-19 case and immediately underwent testing, with the negative result coming late in the afternoon. The COVID-19 test takes about six hours as it requires a genetic amplification process after sample collection.
Upon learning that Jung was undergoing testing, the National Assembly Agriculture, Food, Rural Affairs, Oceans and Fisheries Committee inspection, which had been ongoing since the morning, was abruptly halted. Jung had appeared at the inspection as an institutional witness that morning and made statements, and it was reported that he had dined with some attendees after the morning session. Committee Chair Lee Gae-ho, members from both ruling and opposition parties, and others present at the inspection were quarantined in a meeting room on the 5th floor.
It was reported that Jung kept his mask on while waiting and speaking at the inspection. After Jung’s negative result was confirmed, the inspection resumed.
