Goheung-gun Provides 'Digital Competency Enhancement' Training for 58 Residents
Bridging the Digital Divide in Rural Areas... Improving Quality of Life
[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 21st that it will conduct digital competency enhancement education for local residents at the Cultural Center Computer Training Room and two other locations from the 19th of last month until the end of January next year.
This education is aimed at bridging the digital divide for information-disadvantaged groups such as the elderly and agricultural and fishery workers, and is being promoted with national funding support from the Ministry of Science and ICT.
During the education period, classes are divided into morning, afternoon, and evening sessions, each conducted with the same curriculum at the Dodeok Internet Sarangbang, Donggang Internet Sarangbang, and the Cultural Center Computer Training Room.
The education consists of three courses: ▲Digital Basics, ▲Digital Life, and ▲Digital Intermediate. The curriculum includes basics and utilization of smartphones, as well as prevention methods against voice phishing, which is vulnerable among the elderly in rural areas, and how to use unmanned ordering machines (kiosks).
The education is being conducted for 58 students, and applications and detailed schedules can be checked through the county website or each eup/myeon office.

A county official said, “We hope this education will help bridge the digital divide among residents and improve their quality of life. Depending on the future demand of the trainees, we also plan to conduct outreach education directly at eup/myeon office meeting rooms and village halls.”
