[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Professor Lee Soo-jung of the Department of Criminal Psychology at Kyonggi University mentioned on the 16th that she has been suffering from malicious comments since joining the 'People Power Party Sexual Violence Countermeasures Special Committee' and the 'People Power Party By-election Primary Preparation Committee,' and said, "I really have no intention of going into politics." However, pro-government netizens have continued to shower her with malicious comments.
In an interview with CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the same day, Professor Lee dismissed rumors about her entering politics, saying, "I have never imagined myself as a politician. It seems unlikely that I will go into politics until I am 65 years old."
She explained, "I have absolutely no interest in politics. I have a very strong belief that society needs to change," adding, "I do not explicitly think that only politicians can change society. I believe many people are participating in changing society."
She also emphasized, "I am working hard to bring about change," and said, "(Even if another party offers), I can do it anytime."
Professor Lee then revealed that she has been subjected to considerable malicious comments and harsh criticism from some netizens since joining the People Power Party. She said, "I have never experienced malicious comments in my life, but I don't think I have ever received as many malicious comments as I did in 2020," adding, "If the content of the malicious comments were reasonable, I would deeply reflect and try to change something, but many of them are not reasonable at all."
She continued, "Starting from absurd personal matters, they wildly amplify and reproduce false information. But I cannot tell the media 'that's wrong' or 'that's not true,' and I have no opportunity to explain," adding, "So I just leave it alone. Anyway, I am not going to run for an elected position, and they will probably get tired of insulting me and stop. I have no intention of suing for defamation."
However, online, malicious comments continue to pour in regarding Professor Lee's remarks. Pro-government netizens continued their criticism with comments such as, "There is a reason why she often appears on TV," "Isn't she still playing politics now?" and "Who would believe her when she says she has no intention of going into politics? She is a double-faced person."
Some netizens even used harsh expressions to criticize Professor Lee. They responded with comments like, "Stop XX. Everyone knows she entered politics out of greed," and "She is dirty and ugly."
