Under the theme "Connecting Hope, Connecting Warmth," the event will be divided into three parts featuring dance, singing performances, online busking, and a romantic music concert broadcast live online.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) will hold the 5th Yongma Waterfall On(溫)line Culture and Arts Festival at 10 a.m. on the 17th.
Yongma Waterfall is the largest artificial waterfall in East Asia at 51.4 meters, created by revitalizing the story of a former quarry site.
With nearby facilities such as a library and an artificial rock climbing wall, it is a popular local attraction visited by many residents. The annual autumn Yongma Waterfall Culture and Arts Festival held here is perfect for enjoying the deep autumn atmosphere and is considered one of Jungnang’s representative festivals alongside the Seoul Rose Festival.
This year, due to COVID-19, the festival will be held through a live broadcast on YouTube, but it is expected to be a festival comparable to an on-site event with various contents such as dance and singing performances, online busking, and concerts.
The On(溫)line Culture and Arts Festival will run from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. under the theme “Connecting Hope, Connecting Warmth,” divided into three parts. Looking at the details of the festival, first, “Part 1: Connecting Hope” will begin with an online opening ceremony, followed by dazzling performances by 10 youth and young adult cultural and arts groups from Jungnang-gu, delighting the eyes and ears of viewers.
“Part 2: Connecting Warmth,” held from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., will feature the Jungnang-gu artists’ online busking and the “Yongma Waterfall Romantic Concert,” where various performances by cultural artists can be enjoyed. It will also include “Connecting Traditional Market Culture,” which conveys the lively atmosphere of local traditional markets. This diverse program is designed to allow people to fully feel the autumn mood even from home.
Finally, the main event of this festival, “Part 3: On(溫)line Thank You Concert,” planned to express gratitude to residents who have sacrificed and worked hard to overcome COVID-19, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Part 3 will conclude with the Jungnang Citizen Awards ceremony, a musical gala show, performances by winners of the Jungnang Citizen Singing Contest, and a performance by invited singer Hong Jin-young, who is loved by the public for songs such as “Love Battery,” “Ddarreureung,” and “Thumbs Up.”
In particular, this year’s Yongma Waterfall Online Culture and Arts Festival offers various participant events such as real-time chat support messages, online quizzes, subscription & review events, and also prepares small prizes to provide residents with the joy of participation.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “Since this is a festival created and participated in directly by residents, I hope many people will enjoy and join this festival.”
