Geumcheon-gu Supports Employment Retention Subsidy for Unpaid Leave Workers (Up to 1 Million KRW)
Support up to 1 Million KRW for Unpaid Leave Workers with Employment Insurance in Businesses with Fewer than 50 Employees Taking Unpaid Leave for 5+ Days per Month from July 1; Apply at Geumcheon-gu Office Job Center from Oct 12 to Nov 6
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will provide employment retention subsidies to unpaid leave workers at businesses experiencing financial difficulties due to government quarantine guidelines amid the resurgence of COVID-19.
The support targets workers who have taken unpaid leave for five or more days per month since July 1 at businesses with fewer than 50 employees located in Geumcheon-gu and who have maintained employment insurance until the scheduled subsidy payment date.
The district will support up to 49 employees per business, providing 500,000 KRW per person per month for up to two months.
The application period is from October 12 to November 6.
Employers or unpaid leave workers wishing to apply for the employment retention subsidy can download the application form from the ‘Geumcheon News’ section on the district office website, fill it out, and submit it along with the required documents by visiting the Job Center on the first floor of Geumcheon-gu Office, or via email (geumcheonjob@citizen.seoul.kr) or fax.
If the subsidy budget is exceeded, Seoul City will select recipients based on priority: first, ‘businesses subject to gathering bans’; second, ‘businesses subject to gathering restrictions’; third, ‘businesses subject to operational restrictions’; and fourth, ‘other businesses.’ Sole proprietors, employees of non-profit organizations, and businesses excluded from the New Hope Fund support are not eligible.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “I hope that business owners and unpaid leave workers suffering economic damage from the COVID-19 resurgence can regain some financial relief through the employment retention subsidy,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various support measures for companies and workers facing difficulties due to COVID-19.”
