Lee Won-wook to Medical Students: "Missing the CSAT by 1 Minute Means Losing the Chance... Take Responsibility for Your Choices"
On the 8th, when the practical exam of the 85th Medical Licensing Examination began, the government reaffirmed its principled stance that it is not considering additional applications. Among the 3,172 eligible candidates for the medical licensing practical exam, which closed at midnight the previous day, only 446, or 14%, applied. In a post on his Facebook on the 11th, Lee said, "If you are even one minute late for the College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT), you lose the opportunity to take the exam," adding, "Has anyone ever demanded a retake opportunity for that? Then why should medical students who voluntarily refused the exam be given a chance to retake it?"
Lee also criticized the fact that hospital directors, not the medical students, are issuing public apologies, saying, "Apologies are not the responsibility of hospital directors. If an apology is necessary, the responsible party?the medical students?should step forward. Do not cowardly hide behind the hospital directors."
Expressing regret that medical students continue to pursue only private interests, Lee urged, "Let us not say that taking even someone else's umbrella is for the public good or a right," and called on them to "act like intellectuals! Take responsibility yourselves."
