[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] It has been revealed that 8 out of 10 people in South Korea watch YouTube. The average monthly usage time also exceeds twice that of KakaoTalk, the 'national messenger.'
On the 9th, mobile big data platform company IGAWorks announced that, based on the analysis of YouTube app usage status in September this year using its data analysis solution 'Mobile Index,' this is the result.
Last month, the number of domestic YouTube app users was approximately 43.19 million, which accounts for about 83% of the Korean population (51.78 million).
The average monthly usage time per person for the YouTube app was recorded at 29.5 hours. This is overwhelming compared to KakaoTalk (12 hours), Facebook (11.7 hours), Naver (10.2 hours), and Instagram (7.5 hours).
The younger the age group, the more days they used the YouTube app. The average monthly usage days per person was 16.9 days overall, with teenagers at 20 days, people in their 20s at 19.1 days, 30s at 16.7 days, 40s at 16.1 days, 50s at 16.3 days, and those aged 60 and above at 15.8 days.
By gender, teenage males had the longest YouTube usage time. The average monthly app usage time was 48.1 hours for teenage males and 42.8 hours for teenage females.

Following them were males in their 20s (40.5 hours), females in their 20s (33.7 hours), males in their 30s (30.2 hours), males in their 40s (29.6 hours), females aged 60 and above (28.2 hours), females in their 50s (27.9 hours), and males in their 50s (27.5 hours).
