Jeju Coast Guard Issues 'Advisory' for Coastal Safety Accident Risk Forecast
[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] The Jeju Coast Guard has issued a "caution" level coastal safety accident risk forecast from the 8th to the 11th, as a storm and strong wind advisory has been announced for the entire coastal and maritime areas of Jeju Island.
According to the Jeju Coast Guard, from the morning of the 8th, winds at sea are expected to blow very strongly at 10-16 m/s, with waves rising to 4-6 meters, prompting the issuance of a storm advisory. Along the coast, due to the influence of strong winds (strong wind advisory), winds exceeding 16 m/s are blowing very strongly throughout Jeju, leading to the issuance of a "caution" level risk forecast.
With more than 100,000 tourists expected during the Hangul Day holiday, the Jeju Coast Guard plans to strengthen patrols in areas prone to coastal accidents, control access to dangerous zones, and promptly deploy rescue personnel and equipment in case of coastal accidents to actively respond to maritime safety incidents.
Go Min-gwan, Chief of the Jeju Coast Guard, stated, "The issuance of the coastal accident caution advisory is expected to raise awareness about coastal safety accidents." He added, "During adverse weather conditions, reckless water play, gathering of marine life, and ecological experiences, as well as coastal activities such as tetrapod and rocky shore fishing, are prohibited. Visitors are urged to strictly follow safety rules themselves."

Meanwhile, the coastal safety accident risk forecast system is a system that informs the public in advance of the risk by categorizing the danger into "interest," "caution," and "warning" levels when there is a concern or occurrence of repeated or continuous safety accidents of the same type due to weather deterioration or natural disasters during specific periods, thereby preventing accidents.
