Minister Choo Mi-ae to Visit Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office Tomorrow with Late Prosecutor Kim Hong-young's Parents

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Seok-jin] Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae will visit the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, where the late Prosecutor Kim Hong-young worked, together with Kim's parents.
According to the Ministry of Justice on the 7th, Minister Choo plans to visit the Southern District Prosecutors' Office in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 8th with Kim's parents. They will hang a commemorative plaque on the office door where Kim worked during his lifetime and plant a memorial tree in the flowerbed of the Southern District Prosecutors' Office.
Earlier, Kim's father expressed to former Minister Cho Kuk his wish to leave traces of his son's work behind.
A Ministry of Justice official stated, "Since this is a memorial event, it will be conducted quietly."
Minister Choo also visited the Southern District Prosecutors' Office on the first day of the Chuseok holiday, September 30th last month, to pay respects to the deceased.
Afterwards, Minister Choo posted a photo of her visit to the Southern District Prosecutors' Office on her Facebook along with a message emphasizing the need for prosecutorial reform.
In that post, she stated, "One year ago, former Minister Cho Kuk promised Prosecutor Kim Hong-young's father a small nameplate. We plan to prepare it soon and humbly fulfill that promise by visiting the father in Busan."

The Prosecutorial Investigation Committee, requested by the bereaved family of Prosecutor Kim, who took his own life in May 2016 after suffering verbal abuse and physical assault from his superior, former Deputy Chief Prosecutor Kim Dae-hyun of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office, is scheduled to be held on the 16th.
