Gangbuk-gu Selected as an 'Excellent District' for 8 Consecutive Years in Government Joint Evaluation
Selected as an 'Excellent District' in the 2020 Government Joint Evaluation for Achieving Targets in 34 Assessment Indicators Including Community Dementia Management Rate, Securing 20 Million KRW Financial Incentive
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangbuk-gu (Mayor Park Gyeom-su) has been selected as an excellent district for eight consecutive years in the '2020 Government Joint Evaluation.'
The Government Joint Evaluation is a system in which the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and related central administrative agencies annually assess the performance of delegated national tasks, national subsidy projects, and major national policies carried out by 17 metropolitan cities and provinces nationwide over the past year.
Seoul City measured the performance of autonomous districts based on the achievement rate (80%) and effort rate (20%) of the Government Joint Evaluation. Gangbuk-gu secured a financial incentive (special grant) of 20 million KRW by being selected as an excellent district in the evaluation results.
In this evaluation, the district received high scores as 34 indicators reached their targets. It was recognized for its consistent efforts to support socially vulnerable groups, such as the 'rate of self-sufficiency and employment/start-up of participants in self-support work' and the 'incidence of food poisoning and community dementia management rate.'
Among other target achievement indicators, ▲activation of big data utilization ▲discovery and improvement performance of regulatory issues proposed to central government ministries ▲performance of local government financial support job projects were evaluated as excellent cases.

Park Gyeom-su, Mayor of Gangbuk-gu, said, "Being selected as an excellent district for eight consecutive years is a result that proves our outstanding district administration capabilities both internally and externally," and added, "We will not be satisfied with the excellent district selection but will measure and re-examine the overall performance of district administration to ensure it leads to high-quality administrative services."
