On the 1st, the Korea Forest Service announced that it will provide logistics cost support to promote export activation in line with the peak harvesting season of forest products.
Logistics costs refer to sorting and packaging costs required for harvesting or manufacturing forest products, as well as inland freight and air or cargo freight costs incurred to reach the destination port (airport) in the importing country.
The logistics cost support targets include chestnuts, astringent persimmons, shiitake mushrooms, jujubes, wild vegetables, wild ginseng, matsutake mushrooms, etc. The Korea Forest Service will urgently provide an additional 1 billion KRW on top of the existing 1.3 billion KRW logistics cost support.
This additional support is a proactive measure to resolve the difficulties caused by increased logistics costs due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and to promote short-term forest product exports until the end of the year.
Logistics costs will also be additionally paid to companies that have already shipped and completed exports.
For more detailed information on additional logistics cost support, please refer to the Korea Federation of Forest Cooperatives website or contact the Federation's Distribution Business Team.
