China's September Manufacturing PMI at 51.5... 7th Consecutive Month of Economic Expansion
Non-Manufacturing PMI Index Also Rises for 7 Consecutive Months
[Asia Economy Reporter Jin-gyu Lee] China's manufacturing sector has continued its expansion for seven consecutive months.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics of China on the 30th, the official manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) for September was recorded at 51.5, up from 51.0 in August.
The manufacturing PMI index indicates economic expansion when above the baseline of 50, and contraction when below 50.
China's manufacturing PMI fell to a low of 35.7 in February, when the COVID-19 outbreak was severe, but has remained above 50 since March.
In September, the new export orders index notably reached 50.8, surpassing 50 for the first time this year.

Meanwhile, the non-manufacturing PMI also rose to 55.9 in September, up from 55.2 in August, continuing its expansion for seven consecutive months.
