[Weekly Savings Banks] Industry Volunteers for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] The Korea Federation of Savings Banks extended a helping hand to vulnerable groups in the Mapo area of Seoul in celebration of Chuseok.
Recently, the Federation visited the Mapo Senior Welfare Center and the Mapo Disabled Welfare Center, delivering food kits to be used for the elderly and disabled in the community.
The food kits consisted of songpyeon, rice cakes, hangwa, fruits, and instant foods, and were distributed to a total of 330 households including local seniors and people with disabilities.
Ha Eun-soo, Executive Director of the Federation, said, “We prepared these food kits so that the elderly and disabled, who have been struggling due to COVID-19, can have a comfortable Chuseok holiday. We will continue to carry out various social contribution activities that help the local community.”
Earlier in January, ahead of the Lunar New Year, the Federation donated supplies and volunteered for meal service at the Ahyeon Senior Welfare Center in Mapo-gu. Additionally, the savings bank industry donated 300 million KRW in COVID-19 relief funds for medical staff and vulnerable groups, and 100 million KRW to the National Disaster Relief Association for victims affected by heavy rains.
