Government Confirms Existing Position: "Difficult for Doctors to Retake National Medical Exam"
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] On the 29th, the government stated that its position remains unchanged regarding the re-examination of the medical licensing practical exam for fourth-year medical school students.
Kang Do-tae, the 2nd Vice Minister of Health and Welfare, said in an online back briefing, "At present, the existing position that additional attempts at the medical licensing exam are not allowed remains unchanged."
He added, "We have to consider not only public acceptance but also fairness and equity with other national exams. We will comprehensively listen to the voices of the people through surveys, the National Assembly, and the media."
Regarding the medical community's continuous demand for granting additional opportunities to retake the exam, Vice Minister Kang drew a line, saying, "There is nothing specific to discuss after detailed review."

Son Young-rae, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Welfare, elaborated on this, saying, "There is a contract with the Korea Health Personnel Licensing Examination Institute, and other national exams in the health and medical fields are also proceeding according to schedule, so securing additional exam periods is quite difficult."
