DB Insurance, in collaboration with the Green Umbrella Children's Foundation, will install Yellow Carpets (children's crosswalk waiting zones) where children can safely wait before crossing the crosswalk and drivers can easily recognize them, and will support traffic safety education programs at the schools where they are installed.
The 'Yellow Carpet,' mentioned by President Moon Jae-in at the first Cabinet meeting this year, is a traffic safety facility recognized for its effectiveness in securing driver visibility through the nudge effect, leading to vehicle deceleration and pedestrian recognition.
This year, the Ministry of Education and Seoul City provided a list of schools without Yellow Carpets, and the project will be carried out targeting schools that wish to install them. Nationwide, about 160 new Yellow Carpets will be installed, and repair work will be conducted on 12 that require maintenance, to be completed within this year.
