SK Rent-a-Car Launches Third Phase of 'Mobility Bank' Ethical Rental Car Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Suyeon Woo] SK Rent-a-Car announced on the 28th that it will begin operating the 3rd phase of the 'Mobility Bank,' which supports commercial vehicle rentals for small business owners facing economic difficulties, starting from the 3rd of next month.
SK Rent-a-Car's Mobility Bank was launched in October 2018 as a win-win cooperation model that provides commercial vehicles (Damas) free of charge for one year to social enterprises and small business owners who have difficulty using vehicles due to financial issues.
In the public recruitment held for two weeks from the 5th to the 19th of last month, about 170 new businesses participated, a 42% increase compared to last year. The 3rd phase of the Mobility Bank selected 70 companies through screening based on social value creation, vehicle usage suitability, and vehicle usage plans. The selected 70 companies will use rental cars tailored to their characteristics and create social value going forward.
In addition to free rental of Damas vehicles, the 3rd phase of the Mobility Bank now allows the use of Ray (van model) and Carnival (9-seater) vehicles. Twenty companies that applied for these vehicles will receive support at a 50% discounted rate of the used car rental fee. Furthermore, besides providing vehicles, SK Rent-a-Car offers its comprehensive vehicle management solution, Smart Link, along with insurance and maintenance services, providing both economic assistance and convenience in vehicle use.
SK Rent-a-Car began delivering vehicles to the selected companies from the 23rd after disinfecting and performing basic inspections at its nationwide vehicle logistics centers, and plans to complete delivery to all companies by October 7th. Previously, through the operation of the 1st and 2nd phases of the Mobility Bank, SK Rent-a-Car reduced vehicle maintenance costs by about 550 million KRW, created 65 new jobs, discovered 18 new businesses, and contributed to a 5.8 billion KRW increase in sales for supported companies, thereby creating social value.
An SK Rent-a-Car official said, "The Mobility Bank is a social contribution project with a high satisfaction rate, with nearly 90% of participating companies wishing to extend their participation," and added, "Based on the experience of operating the 1st and 2nd phases, we will take the lead in creating high-quality social value."
