On the 25th, a post titled "Urging President Moon Jae-in and the government to respond reasonably to the incident of the government official shot and killed by North Korea" was uploaded on the Blue House national petition board.
The petitioner said, "A citizen of the Republic of Korea was shot in North Korea, which is constitutionally Korean territory, was not even retrieved to the land, was set on fire with oil poured on him, and his body was abandoned in the sea in a horrific incident."
He criticized, "What did the government and the president of the Republic of Korea do while this was happening?" and "The Ministry of National Defense knew about the incident but neglected it, leaving its citizen unattended for six hours, and as a result, our citizen met a tragic death."
He also said, "I think the claim that he intended to defect to the North has no credibility at all, but even if he had the intention to defect, is it something 'worthy of death'? Does the government have no responsibility because he defected?" and "I am afraid. Because I think that in the flow of political ideology and international affairs, I, my family, and my neighbors could be abandoned like this."
