People Power Party: "Kim Jong-un's Regret Is No Pardon... National Assembly Must Hold Emergency Questioning"
"Democratic Party, Don't Back Out... Don't Play Dumb Either"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] On the 26th, the People Power Party stated regarding the shooting incident of the missing public official from Yeonpyeong Island by North Korea, “A single expression of regret from Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission of North Korea, cannot serve as a pardon for neglecting the duties of the National Assembly,” and added, “Let us hold a plenary session on Monday to conduct an urgent government inquiry according to the National Assembly Act and clearly uncover the truth.”
People Power Party floor spokesperson Bae Hyun-jin said in a commentary that day, “We want to believe in the sincerity of the Democratic Party of Korea, which proactively proposed a one-point plenary session,” and stated, “This plenary session is none other than to ascertain the circumstances under which our citizen was brutally killed by North Korea.”
Spokesperson Bae emphasized, “We are members of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea, and the National Assembly has the responsibility to clarify the suspicion that our citizen was killed and burned,” adding, “Our citizen was killed. Do not back down. Do not feign ignorance. The ruling party of the Republic of Korea must respond promptly.”
