Jeju-si Secures 507.6 Billion Won in National Funding for Next Year... Record High
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Chang-won] Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Jeju City announced on the 25th that it secured a total of 411 national budget projects worth 507.6 billion won for next year.
This amount is 11.2 billion won more than the 496.4 billion won secured in the 2020 national budget, marking the highest ever.
The major national budget projects include ▲(continuing) Ildo 2-dong Community Center new construction project (1 billion won) ▲(new) Rural New Vitality Plus Project (980 million won) ▲(new) Natural Disaster Risk Improvement District Maintenance Project for 2 locations (6.4 billion won) ▲(new) Jeju Citizens' Hall Complex Cultural Facility Creation Project (Living SOC Project) (3.17 billion won) ▲(new) Aewol Living SOC Complex Project (1.3 billion won) ▲(new) Drainage Improvement Project for 3 districts (6.65 billion won), etc.
Jeju Mayor Andong-woo said, “Despite the difficult financial conditions caused by COVID-19 next year, we plan to make efforts to ensure that major Jeju City pending projects are not cut during the National Assembly budget review process.”
Meanwhile, Mayor Andong-woo visited key departments such as the Budget General Division of the Ministry of Economy and Finance in August during the Ministry’s review period.

He also visited central government ministries including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, where he met with the Vice Minister of Oceans and Fisheries and the Planning and Coordination Director of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs to explain the justification for Jeju City’s major projects and requested support for national budget allocation.
