Jiseongho: "Ignoring Human Rights Violations Inside North Korea, They Reach Out Even to Our Citizens"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Ji Seong-ho, a member of the People Power Party originally from North Korea, criticized the government's stance on the Yeonpyeong Island shelling incident, stating, "The government must raise its voice properly regarding the human rights violations by North Korea that occur every hour to prevent such incidents."
On the 24th, Representative Ji said on Facebook, "North Korea's human rights violations are no longer confined within North Korea but are now reaching out to our citizens."
He pointed out, "Following the 2008 shooting incident of the late Park Wang-ja, this time direct harm was inflicted on a national public official," adding, "While President Moon Jae-in was reiterating the declaration to end the Korean War in his keynote speech at the United Nations General Assembly, such anti-human rights actions were being carried out."
Representative Ji said, "Is the response to the overture the execution of our citizens?" and criticized, "The Minister of Unification is emphasizing inter-Korean cooperation while leaving human rights violations aside, which is why such incidents keep recurring."
