Jinan-gun, Visiting Low-Income Families for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Jinan County, in celebration of the Chuseok holiday, created a spirit of living together in society and provided support and consolation to social welfare facilities and low-income groups within the county so that the underprivileged could spend a warm holiday.
According to the county, Jinan County Governor Jeon Chun-seong and county officials visited 15 social welfare facilities in the area, including facilities for the elderly, disabled, and children, delivering consolation goods and encouraging the workers. Public officials also individually visited low-income vulnerable groups such as elderly living alone or disabled families to personally convey Chuseok greetings.
In particular, this consolation effort included a service to assist elderly people who would spend a lonelier Chuseok due to the social atmosphere of refraining from family gatherings and hometown visits during the holiday period to prevent the spread of COVID-19, by helping them make video calls with their children living far away, which received much positive response.
