The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission Wins Gold Award for Government Agency of the Year at International Business Awards Ceremony
Won Gold at the '2020 International Business Awards'
"Other Countries Should Follow Korea's Cheongnyeom Training Institute"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission (ACRC) announced on the 24th that it received the Gold Award, the highest honor in the Government Agency category, at the '2020 International Business Awards' (IBA).
The ACRC stated that it submitted the various programs and operational achievements of the Integrity Training Institute in the Organization of the Year category.
The Integrity Training Institute has been operating since 2012 as South Korea's only specialized institution for anti-corruption and integrity education.
The Institute was recognized as a program with great international development potential by providing integrity education not only to public officials but also to the general public, including youth, adults, and foreigners.
It was positively evaluated for diversifying educational content through lectures, concerts, and cable broadcasting.
In response to the spread of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), the Institute was highly praised for broadcasting integrity education videos on cable TV and IPTV and conducting real-time online education via video conferencing platforms.
The judging panel commented, "It is an innovative approach to addressing corruption," "Every civil society should have such an organization," and "We hope it will be used as an anti-corruption blueprint for other countries."
In July, the ACRC received the Gold Award in Government Innovation Management at the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards. Last month, the OECD Korea Economic Report mentioned that the ACRC "played a significant role in nearly eliminating corruption among lower-level public officials."
Jeon Hyun-hee, Chairperson of the ACRC, said, "Winning the Gold Award in the Government Agency category at the International Business Awards holds great significance as it recognizes the ACRC's efforts to spread a culture of integrity in daily life, going beyond laws and systems, on the international stage."
Hosted by the U.S.-based Stevie Awards and marking its 17th year, the International Business Awards is a global awards ceremony evaluating the business activities and achievements of private and public organizations worldwide from the previous year.
