600,000 Carp and Dongjagae Released into Freshwater Areas of Chungnam

View original image[Asia Economy (Naepo) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Native fish species such as crucian carp and Dongjagae will be mass-released into freshwater bodies in the Chungnam region.
The Freshwater Fish Center of the Chungnam Fisheries Resources Research Institute announced on the 23rd that it will release 600,000 native fish into 19 freshwater locations within the province from the 23rd to the 25th.
The release sites include ▲ Boryeong Dam, Cheongcheonji, Jusan, Ungcheon, Seongjucheon in Boryeong City ▲ Asan Lake, Sapgyo Lake in Asan City ▲ Daeho Lake, Jungwangji, Gajaji, Yonghyeon Valley in Seosan City ▲ Tapjeong Lake in Nonsan City ▲ Daeho Lake, Sapgyo Lake in Dangjin City ▲ Jicheon, Yongdu in Buyeo County ▲ Juhangji, Seobuji in Seocheon County ▲ and Yedang Lake in Yesan County.
The species and quantities to be released are approximately 400,000 crucian carp and 20,000 Dongjagae. The fish to be released are high-quality juveniles managed by the Freshwater Fish Center through broodstock management and artificial seed production since spring.
Following the release of native fish, the Fisheries Resources Research Institute plans to additionally release 500,000 freshwater snails in mid-October.

An official from the Fisheries Resources Research Institute stated, “The release of native fish is being promoted to preserve the freshwater ecosystem and increase fishermen’s income. We will restrict fishing gear and prohibit capture in the release areas for a certain period to allow the young fish released this time to grow.”
