117 Remains of Chinese Soldiers Killed in the Korean War to Be Repatriated on the 27th
The coffin ceremony for the remains of Chinese soldiers who died during the Korean War was held on the morning of the 1st at the "Temporary Chinese Military Remains Storage" of the 17th Division in Gyeyang-gu, Incheon. Officials from both sides, including the Korean Remains Excavation and Identification Team and the Chinese Veterans Affairs Office working group, are inspecting the remains. The 10 remains placed in coffins on this day were excavated within the DMZ from March to November last year and, after undergoing identification processes, were confirmed to be Chinese soldiers. According to the Ministry of National Defense on the 23rd, the 7th 'Chinese Military Remains Handover Ceremony' will be held at 10 a.m. on the 27th at Incheon International Airport, attended by Vice Minister Park Jae-min and Chang Zhengguo (常正國), Deputy Director of the China Veterans Affairs Office.
The Ministry of National Defense plans to hand over 117 Chinese military remains excavated by our military from March to December last year, including 103 remains excavated from Hwaseolmari Hill. The encoffining ceremony will be held on the 26th.
The Ministry explained that due to the results of remains excavation conducted in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) since last year under the September 19, 2018 inter-Korean military agreement, more remains will be repatriated than in previous years.

The Ministry of National Defense has repatriated a total of 599 Chinese military remains to China from 2014 to last year: 437 in 2014, 68 in 2015, 36 in 2016, 28 in 2017, 20 in 2018, and 10 in 2019.
