Boseong-gun Cancels All Festivals in Second Half of Year to Prevent COVID-19 Spread
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Boseong-gun, Jeonnam announced on the 22nd that it will completely cancel six festivals scheduled for the second half of the year to prevent the local spread of COVID-19.
The canceled festivals include six events: the Boseong Jeoneo Festival held in September, the Bokseonghyeon Festival, the Dongroseong Festival, the Beolgyo Cockle & Literature Festival, the Boseong Tea Field Light Festival, and the Yulpo Beach Fireworks Festival.
The county had canceled five integrated festivals including the Boseong Dahyang Grand Festival last spring and planned to decide on the second half festivals after monitoring the situation.
However, considering the serious situation with the resurgence of COVID-19 and the continuation of social distancing level 2, it was decided to cancel all festivals after consultation with the festival promotion committee.
County Governor Kim Cheol-woo said, “It is regrettable to completely cancel the second half festivals, but we will prepare more substantial programs next year so that many tourists can participate in the festivals,” and added, “We ask for broad understanding and cooperation in promoting quarantine measures.”
