Ahn Yusu and Ace Kyungam Chairman Donate Rice Worth 120 Million Won for Chuseok
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] Ace Kyungam Foundation Chairman An Yusu is continuing his steady sharing activities for underprivileged neighbors by donating rice worth 120 million won ahead of the Korean traditional holiday Chuseok.
The Ace Kyungam Foundation announced that Chairman An Yusu donated 5,314 bags of 10kg white rice to Seongnam City, Gyeonggi Province, to support warm holidays for elderly living alone and child-headed households in celebration of Chuseok.
Since 1999, Chairman An Yusu has been donating white rice for 22 years to help underprivileged neighbors, conveying encouragement to those in need through consistent donations rather than temporary support. The total amount of rice donated to the local community has reached approximately 107,000 bags (1,007 tons) based on 10kg bags.
The donated rice will be delivered to a total of 5,314 households, including 4,963 elderly living alone and 351 child-headed households within Seongnam City. Due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, many primary caregivers have experienced income reduction or job loss, leading to an increase in the scale of support. This Chuseok holiday, the donation scale has been expanded compared to the last Lunar New Year holiday, which delivered to 4,847 households, allowing an additional 467 households to benefit.
Chairman An said, "Holidays can be a time when elderly living alone or child-headed households feel relatively isolated, and especially this year, they are likely facing greater difficulties due to the spread of COVID-19," adding, "We will continue our donation activities to offer some comfort during these challenging times."
