Gyeonggi-do Selected as 'Outstanding Institution' for Dementia Policy...Prime Minister's Commendation
[Asia Economy (Uijeongbu) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi-do has been selected as an excellent institution for dementia policy and received the Prime Minister's Commendation.
On the 21st, Gyeonggi-do announced that it was selected as an excellent institution for dementia overcoming at the '13th Dementia Overcoming Day Ceremony 2020' held at the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Seoul, hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and received the Prime Minister's Commendation.
The Ministry of Health and Welfare annually selects and awards government agencies, local governments, individuals, and organizations that have contributed to raising social awareness of dementia and overcoming dementia to commemorate Dementia Overcoming Day.
Among local governments nationwide, the province was selected as the top excellent institution and received the highest honor, the Prime Minister's Award, on this day.
The province operates 46 Dementia Safety Centers and 66 Dementia Safety Villages in 31 cities and counties to overcome dementia. It also implements various policies and projects such as early dementia screening for 377,694 people, dementia treatment support for 27,921 people, and dementia prevention education and cognitive enhancement education for 291,335 elderly people.
In addition, it is promoting the training of 10,000 dementia experts composed of medical institution and long-term care institution workers, dementia counseling for 239,889 people, case management for 3,647 people, and public guardianship projects.
