Yeonggwang-gun Extends Social Distancing Level 2 Until September 27
Guidelines on Measures Including Ban on Indoor Gatherings Over 50 and Outdoor Gatherings Over 100 People
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun (Governor Kim Junsung) conducted an education session on the government's extended Level 2 social distancing measures outside the metropolitan area until September 27 for senior officials at the county office meeting room on the 21st.
The government announced that due to sporadic cluster infections nationwide and to minimize the spread of infections caused by large-scale population movements before and after the Chuseok holiday, the Level 2 measures outside the metropolitan area will be extended until the 27th.
The main points of the Level 2 social distancing measures are ▲ prohibition of gatherings, meetings, and events of 50 or more people indoors and 100 or more people outdoors ▲ maintaining no spectators at sports events ▲ prohibition of gatherings at 11 types of high-risk facilities such as clubs, karaoke rooms, and buffets (local governments may flexibly adjust the content and timing of measures) ▲ suspension of operations at indoor national and public facilities ▲ mandatory core quarantine rules (gathering restrictions) at high-risk multi-use facilities such as performance halls, religious facilities, and bathhouses ▲ measures to reduce density at schools, institutions, and companies, effective from 0:00 on September 21.
Since many COVID-19 confirmed cases with unknown infection routes continue to occur in the metropolitan area including Seoul and Gyeonggi-do as well as nationwide, this year's Chuseok is a time that requires a 'temporary pause.' Citizens are urged to refrain from visiting hometowns and other regions including the metropolitan area, avoid gatherings, meetings, and events, and actively participate in social distancing.
The county has so far imposed gathering bans or restrictions on high-risk facilities such as entertainment bars, karaoke rooms, and door-to-door sales promotion centers, as well as medium-risk facilities like bathhouses and saunas, with dedicated officials continuously inspecting each business to ensure compliance with quarantine rules.
