Gwangju City Cancels October Opening Event for Mudeungsan Summit
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 21st that it has canceled this year's autumn season summit opening event due to concerns about community infection and citizen safety amid the recent nationwide resurgence of COVID-19 and large-scale events involving many participants.
Mudeungsan Summit has been a restricted area for the general public since 1966 when a military unit was stationed there. From 2011 to 2019, the military base at the summit was opened a total of 24 times, allowing 450,000 people to visit the summit.
