Gyeongnam National University Selected for 'Artificial Intelligence Training Data Construction Project'
AI Service Development Supported with Total Project Cost of 2.3 Billion Won
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Woo-kwon] Gyeongnam National University announced on the 21st that it was recently selected in the regional contest of the ‘Artificial Intelligence (AI) Learning Data Construction Project’ promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Information Society Agency, receiving a total project fund of 2.3 billion KRW fully supported by national funds.
The AI Learning Data Construction Project is a representative project of the ‘Data Dam’ under the ‘Korean New Deal,’ a government-led digital New Deal initiative aimed at creating large-scale jobs and fostering the national AI industry through data construction and disclosure reflecting the demands of industries and institutions.
In the contest, Gyeongnam National University Big Data Center formed a consortium with Changwon City and top domestic online learning specialized companies and institutions such as i-Scream Edu, Tmax BI, the Edutech Industry Association, and the Intelligent Information Industry Association, proposing the ‘Changwon Region Learner Competency Measurement Data Set Construction Project to Bridge the Math Achievement Gap,’ and was selected.

To successfully carry out the project, the Gyeongnam National University Big Data Center plans to collect and analyze learners’ online problem-solving processes, develop an AI service that diagnoses math ability levels and weaknesses, and apply the developed program to Changwon City’s comprehensive student education portal ‘Changwon-i Piumi’ in the future.
