Ulsan City, Hyundai Motor Company, and Korea Hydrogen Industry Association to Operate from the 21st... Promoting Ulsan as a Hydrogen City
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The ‘KTX Ulsan Station Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Exhibition Hall’ has opened.
Ulsan City, in collaboration with the Korea Hydrogen Industry Association and Hyundai Motor Company, will hold the ‘Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Exhibition Hall Opening Ceremony’ at 11 a.m. on the 21st in the conference room on the first floor of KTX Ulsan Station.
The hydrogen electric vehicle exhibition hall is installed on the first floor of KTX Ulsan Station with an area of 43.2㎡ and will be operated continuously.
The main exhibits include hydrogen electric vehicles and cutaway models of hydrogen electric vehicles that allow visitors to see the interior of the vehicles, enabling them to directly observe the hydrogen electric vehicles and visually understand their principles and advantages.
Information on support related to Ulsan City’s hydrogen electric vehicle distribution project, such as subsidies, tax benefits, and fee reductions when purchasing, can also be confirmed.
About 20 people will attend the event, including Song Cheol-ho, Mayor of Ulsan; Jeon Young-do, Chairman of Ulsan Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Kim Bang-hee, Chairman of the Korea Hydrogen Industry Association; Kim Chang-hwan, Executive Director of Hyundai Motor Company; Hwang Seok-tae, Director of the Ministry of Environment’s Living Environment Policy Office; and Park Hyuk-soon, Stationmaster of Ulsan Station, Korea Railroad Corporation.
Ulsan City began distributing hydrogen electric vehicles in 2014 and has supplied 1,698 hydrogen electric vehicles to date, holding the largest number of hydrogen electric vehicles nationwide.
Ulsan also has the most hydrogen charging stations in the country, with six stations, accounting for 16% of the 37 hydrogen charging stations nationwide.
By the end of September, two additional hydrogen charging stations, Together Charging Station (near Yeocheon Five-way Intersection) and Deokha Public Garage Charging Station (inside Deokha Public Garage), will be completed, and three more stations will begin construction by the end of the year. A total of 11 hydrogen charging stations are expected to be operational next year.
An official from Ulsan City said, “Recently, as the distribution of hydrogen electric vehicles has expanded, many people often see hydrogen electric vehicles but do not recognize them as such or think they are just a type of general electric vehicle. We are holding this exhibition event to raise public awareness of hydrogen electric vehicles and to help citizens realize how close the hydrogen economy is to us.”
Since February 13, Ulsan City has been running the ‘2020 Hydrogen Electric Vehicle Distribution Project,’ providing a subsidy of 34 million KRW (national and city funds) when purchasing a hydrogen electric vehicle.
For detailed information on applying for hydrogen electric vehicle purchase subsidies, please refer to the announcement on Ulsan City’s website or contact the Energy Industry Division of Ulsan City.
