National Tax Service Establishes Personal Data Protection System Based on International Standards
Simultaneous Acquisition of Security System and Personal Information Protection Certifications
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] The National Tax Service announced that it has simultaneously obtained ISO27001 (security system) and ISO27701 (personal information protection) certifications to systematically and securely manage taxpayer personal information during the big data utilization process, and held a plaque unveiling ceremony at the Government Sejong National Tax Service building on the 21st.
This is the first case of a national institution obtaining personal information protection certification. It is significant in that security regulations, systems, and overall work processes were established according to international standards and verified through external audits.
Kang Jong-hoon, Head of the Big Data Center, said, "We will continue to innovate taxpayer services in line with changes in the tax administration environment within a stable information protection system, improve the efficiency of employees' work, and develop future national tax administration."
Kim Dae-ji, Commissioner of the National Tax Service, urged, "I hope you will do your best to support sincere tax payment and realize fair taxation within a safe management system where taxpayers' valuable personal information is thoroughly protected."
