Improvement of Street Vendor Environment in Front of Dongbu Market, Jungnang-gu
Reborn as a Standardized Street Vendor, Resolving Pedestrian Inconvenience and Improving Urban Aesthetics
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] "I am happy to be able to do business in a cleaner store."
This is the remark of a merchant operating a street stall at Dongbu Market in Jungnang-gu.
The street stalls in front of Dongbu Market in Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) have been transformed into shops harmonized with the surrounding environment, attracting the attention of visitors.
The district office announced that it has completed the "Dongbu Market Front Street Stall Environment Improvement Project" to enhance urban aesthetics while minimizing inconvenience to pedestrians.
The "Dongbu Market Front Street Stall Environment Improvement Project" involved demolishing 13 existing street stalls, including sales stands, handcarts, and floor displays that were disorderly and scattered, and newly manufacturing and installing standardized street stalls measuring 3.0 (width) × 2.0 (depth) × 2.4 (height) meters in tile dark gray and dark green colors. The project was carried out from February to September.
The improvement project not only standardized the street stalls but also replaced facilities that caused inconvenience to pedestrians, such as parasols, display stands, and vinyl tarps, with awnings (canopies) and shutters, resulting in a clean and safe rebirth of the Dongbu Market street.
Previously, the district office held 20 meetings with street stall operators and their association to reflect the opinions of local merchants in the project.
