Patient A, the 20th confirmed case in Boryeong, is a second-year student at a middle school in Boryeong City, Chungnam, and is known to attend the same school as Patient B (first-year), the first confirmed case in Boryeong.
Patient A showed suspected COVID-19 symptoms such as headache and fever on the afternoon of the 17th and was tested at Boryeong Asan Hospital.
The school Patient A attends has been conducting online classes for all students since the 22nd of last month, after Patient B was confirmed positive for COVID-19.
Health authorities stated that they are investigating whether Patient A, confirmed positive on this day, is connected to a high school in Boryeong City where a recent cluster infection occurred.
At this high school, after Patient C (Boryeong 14th), a first-year student, was confirmed positive on the 16th, five others were subsequently confirmed positive: C’s homeroom teacher (Boryeong 15th), the school bus driver (Boryeong 16th), a classmate (Boryeong 17th), and a teacher couple (Boryeong 18th and 19th).
