[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] In the Gyeongnam region, no new cases of COVID-19 have been reported for over ten days.
On the 18th, Gyeongnam Province announced in a COVID-19 response briefing that no one tested positive for the coronavirus overnight.
The cumulative number of confirmed cases in the province remains at 279.
245 patients have fully recovered and been discharged, while 34 are currently hospitalized.
The spread has also slowed in Hamyang and Changnyeong, where small-scale local infections occurred.
Since the confirmation of a taxi driver in Hamyang (Gyeongnam case number 264), 1,181 people have been tested.
Except for the previously confirmed six cases, no additional cases have been reported.
Regarding the confirmed case of a public worker at an elementary school in Changnyeong (case number 276), a total of 263 people have been tested, and aside from the three previously confirmed cases, no new cases have been found.
Meanwhile, the province stated that it is tracking the movements of case number 22616, a resident of Tongyeong City who was confirmed positive in Seoul and is currently hospitalized at Seoul St. Mary's Hospital.
Case number 22616, who tested positive on the 16th, regularly traveled between Tongyeong and Seoul once a week for hospital visits.
On the 10th and 15th, the individual used buses to travel between Tongyeong City and Seoul, raising concerns about virus transmission during transit.
Since only imported cases have been reported in Tongyeong so far, the possibility of local transmission is considered low.
