Seoul Reports 46 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Three Patients in Their 70s Under Treatment Pass Away
[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of new COVID-19 cases in Seoul has dropped back to the 40s after three days. However, deaths among the elderly continue to occur.
As of midnight on the 18th, Seoul city announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased by 46 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 4,904.
The daily new confirmed cases in Seoul showed an increasing trend from 32 on the 14th, to 51 on the 15th, and 63 on the 16th, but dropped back to the 40s on the 17th.
Among the new confirmed cases on this day, 3 cases (cumulative 30) were related to the previously identified cluster at K Health Industry in Gangnam-gu, and 3 cases (cumulative 8) were linked to a metropolitan area acquaintance gathering. Additionally, 3 people tested positive in a new cluster at the Seoul Regional Tax Office.
Besides these, there was 1 case from contact with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, and 20 cases from other routes such as old clusters or sporadic cases. There are 16 confirmed cases still under investigation as their infection routes have not yet been identified.
The number of deaths in Seoul increased by 3 in one day, reaching a cumulative total of 46. All the deceased were elderly in their 70s.
