Meeting of Chairpersons of Small and Medium Enterprise Cooperatives Held
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Tae-in] Woo Beom-gi, Deputy Governor for Political Affairs of Jeollabuk-do, visited the Jeonbuk Jeonju Supermarket Cooperative on the 17th and held a meeting with officials from the Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs and chairpersons of local SME cooperatives to listen to their difficulties.
About 20 people, including chairpersons of cooperatives composed of small and micro enterprises in the blind spots of COVID-19 and officials from the Jeonbuk Regional Headquarters of the Korea Federation of SMEs, attended this meeting and presented various proposals for revitalizing SME cooperatives and overcoming COVID-19.
Du Wan-jeong, president of the Jeonbuk Regional Association of the Korea Federation of SMEs, stated, “Systematic policy preparation and substantial budget support are necessary to enhance regional economic vitality through various joint projects between SME cooperatives in the same and different industries.” He proposed expanding budget support for SME cooperative revitalization, establishing logistics centers, promoting the preferential purchase system, and increasing the Yellow Umbrella Hope Incentive.
In response, Deputy Governor Woo Beom-gi said, “We will spare no active support so that SME cooperatives can coexist, cooperate, and grow together,” adding, “We will pay close attention to discovering various policies and revitalizing local SMEs in the future.”

Meanwhile, currently, 41 SME cooperatives are operating in the province, with 4,816 companies participating as members. Jeollabuk-do enacted the ‘Jeollabuk-do SME Cooperative Fostering and Support Ordinance’ last year and has been supporting eight projects, including fostering and supporting SME cooperatives.
