[Breaking] Spread of Entertainment Venues 'Triggering Gwangju 3rd Wave' Started at Sarang Jeil Church
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] It has been tentatively confirmed that the regional spread of infections originating from entertainment establishments in the Sangmu district, which triggered the third wave of COVID-19 in Gwangju, began at the overnight worship service of Sarang Jeil Church in Seoul.
According to health authorities on the 17th, analysis of mobile phone location information systems (GPS) to trace the movements of confirmed cases related to Gwangju entertainment establishments revealed a connection to Sarang Jeil Church.
One confirmed case, a staff member at an entertainment establishment, was found to have attended the overnight worship service of Sarang Jeil Church at the end of July, which was attended by church members from across the country.
Although the confirmed case denies attending the overnight worship service, authorities have reportedly obtained meaningful statements related to this case from fellow staff members.
