Justice Party's Jang Hye-young: "Those Who Were the Driving Force of Change Have Become Entrenched Interests"
"Hiding Behind Self-Justification by Saying 'There Are Worse People'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Jang Hye-young, a Justice Party lawmaker, criticized on the 16th, “When the Moon Jae-in administration was launched in 2017 with the cry of ‘Is this a country?’, many citizens were filled with expectations. I was one of them,” adding, “However, what we face now are people who were once the greatest driving force for change but have become vested interests and only talk about change in words.”
At the economic sector government questioning session held at the National Assembly that day, Rep. Jang said, “If it is for a world where everyone lives equally and with dignity, why has that passionate heart that vowed to fight without leaving love, honor, or name behind become so cold?”
Rep. Jang emphasized, “Stop hiding behind easy self-rationalizations like ‘there are worse guys’ or ‘I’m decent enough’ and ignoring the challenges of the times. I earnestly appeal to revive the passion of youth, which threw itself into a better world, not as a tale of the past but as a seasoned power breaking the walls of this era.”

Regarding the controversy over preferential treatment in military service for the son of Justice Minister Choo Mi-ae, Rep. Jang pointed out, “Watching the government questioning sessions so far, one question does not leave my mind,” and said, “Although there were lawmakers who steadfastly asked policy questions about people’s livelihood and state administration, most of the precious time was wasted on political strife surrounding Minister Choo’s son’s leave issue.”
